Table problems

When creating tables, what paramaters do I need to put in so that when I put in the first image, the whole table doesn't smash together and make it impossible to continue working on it. I want to be able to use tables for my website in order to stack multiple content on the website, and I don't want to have to ask you to make one every time I need one. Are there instructions for creating tables that I am unaware of? Is there some glitch that makes it smash together like this? Please explain.

Also, why is it no matter what paramaters I put in for the table, either cell padding, cell spacing, image vertical and horizontal space, the table looks like this with the images all touching with no space between them.

I took the paramaters from the tables created on the front that now read "Exclusive Interviews." I input those paramaters exactly, copying each one precisely. This is the result. Here is what is displayed on my page.
